Calendar dates for Summer Reading Program 2011 "A MidSummer Knight's Read"

June Calendar of Events

  •       June 1 - 1st of Many Knights (10:30 am – 12:30 p.m., Library) – 15 yr. old Ben Pinkley and Buddies will perform amid stations for face painting, crafts, magic and registration.
  •       June 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 30 – Preschool Storytime (10:30 am, Little House) - Storytimes are designed for children ages 3-5.  They offer a fun time of listening to books, songs, crafts and snacks.  Caregivers must stay with the children during this 45-minute program. This is a yearlong program.
  •       June 3, 10, 17, 24 – Lapsit (9:30 am, Little House) - Lapsits are designed for our youngest patrons (0-36 months) and their caregivers.  Stories, songs and simple crafts fill this 30-minute program. This is a yearlong program.
  •       June 6 - Tale of Balloonalot (1:00 pm, Sr. Citizens Center) – Jason Vaughn will tell the tale of Balloonalot in a very unique way and with lots of air. www.higherhopeballoons.com
  •       June 7, 21 – Afternoon Drop-In Craft Day (1:00-4:00pm, Little House) – Drop in and make a craft.
  •       June 11, 25 – Movie Night (8:00 pm, Back Yard of Little House) – Outdoor movie with snacks.  Showing “How to Train Your Dragon” June 11 and “Dragonheart” June 25.
  •       June 13, 27 – Family Bedtime Storytime (5:30 pm, Library) – Special bedtime stories, craft, snacks and maybe even a special guest.
  •       June 14 - Knight for Hire (1:00 pm, Sr. Citizens Center) – Karl Kindt III, dubbed the 1st Knight of Bethalto will be in full armor telling stories of knights, castles and the middle ages. www.knightforhire.com
  •       June 15, 29 – Morning Drop-In Craft Day (10:00am-1:00 pm, Little House) – Drop in and make a craft.
  •       June 18 – Paws to Read (10:00-11:00 am, Library) - Paws to Read is a time to share a book with a four-legged friend and become a “Paw-some” Reader.  Trained therapy dogs visit the library where children choose a book and a furry friend and enjoy some special reading time and a chance to earn prizes along the way.  Caregivers must accompany children to this program. This is a yearlong program.
  •       June 20 - Birds of Prey (1:00 pm, Sr. Citizens Center) – Treehouse Wildlife Center will bring birds of prey along with information on each bird and the Treehouse Wildlife rescue program. www.treehousewildlifecenter.com
  •       June 28 - The Barony of the Shattered Crystal (1:00 pm, Sr. Citizens Center) – The Society for Creative Anachronism will be recreating the Middle Ages and Renaissance period.  www.shatteredcrystal.org
  •       July 8 - Summer Knights in the Park End Celebration (7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Village Park/8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., Community Pool) – Like the title suggests…an ending to a great summer reading program with various guests, displays, activities, food and available for the first time …the Summer Reading Program Final Prizes will be available at the Village Park!!!
