Summer Reading Program 2011

“A Midsummer Knight’s Read”

Program begins on June 1st and ends on June 30th.

          That’s right…just one (1) month!

  •     One program for all ages (infant through adult)
  •     The program is free and open to everyone.
  •     To complete the Summer Reading Program you must read or listen to two (2) books, watch two (2) movies and read two (2) magazines.  We prefer that you check them out at the Bethalto Library, but you may check out or request items from other member libraries also.
  •     Fill out one Scroll Reading Log for each book, movie, or magazine that you read, listen to, or watch.  Return the completed Scroll Reading Log to Bethalto Library for a chance in a drawing to win one Prize Package of your choice.  Only one (1) item per Scroll Reading Log.  Read more and enter often for more chances of winning.
  •     You must complete the entire Summer Reading Program to be eligible to win one of the Prize Package Drawings and one of the Final Prizes. (see Final Prizes).
  •     Children returning a Scroll Reading Log may choose to receive a small daily prize from the Treasure Chest.  One (1) prize per child, per day no matter how many Scroll Reading Logs are returned.
  •       Weekly craft days and special events will be held during June. These are just for fun, and are open to everyone.  So, if you have friends or cousins visiting, bring them along too!  (see calendar)
  •       Attendance Bookmarks providing additional Prize Package chances will be handed out at the Senior Citizen’s Center during our guest performers’ shows and at special events.

Final Reading Prizes

The Final Prize will be handed out on a first come/first serve basis, beginning at the “Summer Knights in the Park” celebration on July 8th and continuing through July 31st at the Library. You will be able to choose from available items which prize you want at that time.  Prize choices will be available while supplies last and no exchanges will be made.

 The Fine Print!

  •        Please be sure to print your first and last name clearly on your Scroll Reading Log or any additional contest slips.  If we cannot read it, it will not count!
  •       Do not leave Scroll Reading Logs in returned items or book drops.
  •       All prizes must be picked up before 5:00 p.m. on July 31st.
  •       A staff member may be taking photos during Library events and programs, which may be used for Library displays, on the Library web site, in a scrapbook, in the newspaper or on Thank You cards.  If the name of a minor aged photo subject is used, a guardian will be asked to sign a “Minor Release” form.

If you’ve lost track of how many Bookmarks you have returned, simply call the Library at 618-377-8141.
